Brands in Meat?

Indeed, it's important to know that, as with almost all consumer products, there's someone behind who adds value to their products to support them with an identity or distinction over the competition.

As we discussed in the previous entries, all brands must be backed by certification from each country. The strongest brands now are: The United States, Australia, and Japan.

There's a widespread confusion between the breed of the animals, certification, and the brand, so it's important for me to explain to you the differences between them. Many brands have taken Angus as their main strength to include it in the name of their brand, highlighting this differentiator that puts them at a higher level. As I mentioned, the Angus breed is one of the best in meat production. Some of them in the United States that carry this name are Certified Angus Beef, Black Angus, Golden Angus, Angus Texas Beef, Premium Angus Beef, among others. As you may have noticed, all of them mention the word 'Angus', which generates confusion about whether Angus is the brand or the breed.

In Australia, there's also a wide variety of brands, to name some important ones: Jack's Creek, Rangers Valley, Obe Organic, and WX.

In Japan, there are also brands like Tesoro de Japan, who are one of the main promoters of Japanese meat. I consider that in Japan, the strength of each region as a designation of origin weighs more, as can be the perfect example of the Kobe region.

There's another very common mistake where the brand can be confused with meat packers, as there are many meat producers who take their products to be packaged at specialized and certified packaging plants like Swift or Excel in the United States.

Finally, what I consider the biggest confusion arises regarding the Certification of each country, as there are many people who think that Choice or Prime meat is a brand. Actually, it's important to know that this is to prevent meat producers or brands from deciding the quality of their product. Therefore, they have to submit to an external body who is the one who guarantees the quality of said product.

Each brand has the possibility of having its different tools to elevate its quality, such as packaging and logo. Referring to the quality of the meat, factors such as the age of the cattle, care, management, feeding, but above all the breed of the animals intervene to guarantee a better product.

It's important for us at Brasa Blanca to bring closer what we consider the best brands in the world so that you can decide which one you like the most, but above all, that you can start to notice the differences between them.

Having said that, I would love to explain that at Brasa Blanca, since each country has its different certification, we group those qualities and brands into three main quality groups at BBB, BB, B, with BBB being the best quality.

I take this opportunity to thank you for reading me again and I hope I have managed to clarify those main differences.

I invite you to read the next entry where I would like to talk about beef cuts and where each one comes from.
